Windsor’s Big Lunch on the Long Walk

Sunday 5th June 2022 from 11.30am to 6.30 pm on the Long Walk

Sunday is Big Lunch Day in Windsor we are going to make this a very special event.  Every year, since The Big Lunch began in 2009, it encourages communities to celebrate their connections and get to know each other a little bit better, coming together in a spirit of fun and friendship. So, we invite the local community to join us to share friendship, food and fun. Gather friends and family,  bring your Union Jack flags and let’s picnic together around our big screens, where you can watch the national Platinum Jubilee Pageant, which promises to be a spectacular parade, combining street arts, theatre, music, circus, carnival and costume, as well as the enjoying street entertainers in the beautiful surroundings of the Long Walk. This special occasion is made even more unique as this will be the first time such an event as ever taken place on the Long Walk.

Windsor’s Big Lunch will be a wonderful day celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and a great opportunity to dress-up, bring flags and decorations to show your support. Make sure you bring a camera! Do keep an eye on our website social media profiles for any updates and start preparing your outfits – remember you can never have too many Union Jacks or platinum purple on display!

We have set out below information and FAQs which we hope will answer any questions you may have about the day.

DO COME ALONG YOU’LL BE VERY WELCOME

The booking facility for the Long Table will remain open until on Friday 27th May to allow for any returned table tickets to be placed back on sale, you can use the link below to check availability.

For the Big Lunch you are welcome to either bring your own picnics, or to buy from one of the food and refreshments stalls which will be available on the day (see details below in event information section), or if you wish you can celebrate the Jubilee in style with one of Coworth Park’s delicious picnics presented in beautiful wicker hampers, which can be pre-ordered ready to collect and enjoy on the day, click on the Jubilee Picnic Hampers link for further details.  The choice is yours!

The Windsor Platinum Jubilee Celebrations have been planned, organised and are being run entirely voluntarily, so do please be kind, patient and treat all volunteers  with respect whilst they try to make everyone’s weekend an enjoyable one.  Please do your part to make these community celebrations a success and if you are able to contribute in any way, this is hugely appreciated.

The Windsor Platinum Jubilee Committee would like to thank The Crown Estate for generously allowing us all to use the Long Walk for our Windsor Community Celebrations. In addition we would like to thank the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead for their support. We would also like to thank our kind and generous supporters, without whom these special celebrations would not have been possible.
