In 2022, a very special series of events in and around Windsor is planned throughout the year, so that the local community can celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This is the first time in history that a monarch has achieved the extraordinary milestone of 70 years of service to the nation. We invite the local community to celebrate this momentous occasion in style!
One of the highlights will be celebratory events planned for the special four-day Bank Holiday weekend, the 2nd to the 5th June, to which everyone is invited.
The celebrations will begin with the Windsor Platinum Jubilee Beacon lighting and Fireworks on the Long Walk on the evening of Thursday 2nd June, followed by a Concert at St George’s Chapel on Friday 3rd June. The Jubilee Picnic in the Park on the Long Walk will take place on Saturday 4th June, with reflections across the 7 decades from 1952, featuring cars from the years of The Queen’s reign, and the weekend will finish on the Long Walk with the Big Lunch on Sunday 5th June. There will also be big screens in place on Saturday and Sunday so that major Platinum Jubilee events in London can be seen live from Windsor.
Please see our What’s On page for more details.

The Windsor Platinum Jubilee Committee is solely organising celebration events in Windsor over the June Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend and the Windsor School’s Week in May, which are being funded entirely by donations.
Alongside the celebrations we are offering the facility for individuals/groups etc in the community to add Jubilee related events to a free online calendar to raise awareness of events in the Royal Borough throughout the year, but unfortunately we are unable to provide any other support or financial assistance for events being organised by individuals or groups. It is anticipated there will be many visitors attending the Windsor Platinum Jubilee weekend events, and we would suggest using public transport, walking and cycling where possible. However, if you are planning to drive there are several public car parks in and around Windsor, details of which can be found on the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead web site by clicking here.
OUR GREEN POLICIES
At Windsor Platinum Jubilee Events we are passionate about improving the world we live in. We want to make the event as sustainable as we can and aim to be frugal with resources, minimise our impact on our environment and commit towards improving the wellbeing and welfare of all who volunteer at and come to enjoy the events.
OUR WASTE POLICY
‘Love the Park, leave no trace’, is central to our philosophy. We are passionate about reducing rubbish sent to landfill and ask visitors to bring only what they need and leave nothing behind. With over 10,000 people on the Long Walk over the weekend, it’s very important to minimise the enormous impact this has on the environment.
By focusing on the efficient use and reuse of resources, we want to avoid the creation of waste.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
For the Windsor Platinum Jubilee Events to be sustainable, we all have a duty to make sure the land on which it stands is looked after. With over 10,000 people visiting the Long Walk, reducing the impact we have on the environment is a huge task. And it is one which we are devoted to.
But we simply can’t do it without you. With your help we can do even more to bring down our greenhouse gas emissions.
There are many ways in which you can help us to protect our environment, such as:
- Please use our recycling bins. It is not okay to drop litter on the ground. Help us by placing your waste into the correct recycling bins.
- Please only use what you need. If every visitor used four napkins instead of one, there would be an extra 40,000 napkins wasted unnecessarily.
- Please use public transport, cycle or car-share to Windsor. Car exhaust is still the greatest contributor to global climate change. Help to reduce our carbon footprint.
- Please bring a reusable water bottle. These can be filled for free at the Windsor & Eton Brewery Bar.
- Please dispose of cigarette butts responsibly. If they are thrown on the land, they leach chemicals into the soil and local water supplies.
Arrangements for the various main weekend events are currently being formulated, which includes requirements for assistance by volunteers. If you are interested in giving your time as a volunteer please complete the Register Your Interest form , we will hold your details and be in touch as and when we have specific details of how you may be able to support the Windsor Platinum Jubilee.
If you have a product or service you would like to offer to support the celebrations please complete the Register Your Interest form, and we will pass your details to the relevant team member.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead are offering assistance to anyone in the community who wishes to arrange a Street Party to mark this momentous occasion. In the summer of 2022, Windsor and Eton will be celebrating two important anniversaries – Her Majesty’s seventy years on the throne (her Platinum Jubilee) and the 100th anniversary of the granting of Windsor’s Royal Charter. So that the town centres are looking their best for the Jubilee, The Windsor and Eton Society, in partnership with The Royal Borough, launched the Windsor & Eton Facelift 2022 project in November 2021. The Facelift will focus on refreshing public spaces around the town centres, encouraging building owners to spruce up their premises, and facilitating decoration of both towns with flower displays in the Jubilee colours of purple and white.
