Windsor Beach Rugby
Alexandra Gardens became Windsor Beach on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th June when the Platinum Jubilee Beach Rugby tournament got underway with teams of mixed ability coming together for tag rugby matches, each seeking to win the Jubilee Cup. With inflatable posts, beach bar, a Clubhouse at nearby Windsor and Eton Brewery, BBQ and even a silent disco after the games, it was a fun 2 days for everyone with profits all going to charity. This wonderful 2 day event of mixed-tag-rugby (non-contact), consisted of squads of 10, five players in-play at any time, playing on Olympic-grade surface which was imported specially for the event. Matches were 5 minutes each way, with no player restrictions, as the ethos began and ended with inclusivity. It is hoped that this can become an annual event as a legacy of the Platinum Jubilee.
